If there is one word that can best illustrate Marbella in Spain, it would be “luxurious”. Each year, Marbella hosts thousands of guests and is considered as one of the best option if you want to spent luxury holidays in Spain. The interesting thing is that many of the visitors are the wealthiest of the rich. Probably the most famous of these transient residents was the late Crown King of Saudi Arabia, Fahd ibn Abdul Aziz.

King Fahd is known for making Marbella the second home of the Saudi royal family. He has established his own residence in the area, the Nahda complex, which contains his own copy of the American White House. This particular clone of the White House is made out of marble and gold, which it seems only those deeply involved in the oil industry could afford to buy. Indeed, King Fahd is beloved in Marbella because of his extravagant lifestyle that has benefited several of the establishments in the area. Every time the king goes to Marbella, there is a chance for employment or free money as the king was thought to be giving out tips amounting to thousands of dollars. His visits generated a lot of earnings for Marbella; the locals then will use the money to provide their needs or start their own businesses. When he visits Marbella, which he thinks about as a “land blessed by Allah,” King Fahd brings together hundreds of people in his entourage. To support and serve this massive retinue, there is of course a need for a higher production from the industries in the area like the Goyo Bakery in downtown Marbella and the El Corte Ingles, which have benefited greatly from the late King’s visits.

King Fahd’s complex is a sprawling property which houses more than just the aforementioned royal palace. In fact, it has been furnished into what one can only call as the Saudi Royal Family’s second home. The need to respond to their religious obligations meant that the Saudi King had to construct an exclusive mosque for himself, the royal family and visitors that come along with him on the visit. Of course, a luxurious compound is not complete with a swimming pools, and there are many of those within the complex. They have everything that they need within the complex, really, including an exclusive hospital that is manned by some of the world’s exceptional workers in the medical industry.

The Saudi royal family compound can be considered the symbol of luxury and pomp in Marbella. There are other extravagant properties, denoting Marbella’s sophisticated lifestyle, but the King’s tops them all out! Then in 2002, the compound went through intensive remodelling that increased the property’s value to 108 million Euros!

Extravagance aside, King Fahd of Saudi Arabia is ingrained in the memory of the people of Marbella due to his share to the locale’s economy. It is perhaps apt to refer to the King as the single greatest contributor to the economy of Marbella, which he once called a “land blessed by Allah.” On his death in 2005, he was accorded the honour of being an adopted son of Marbella and was given a half-mast in observation of his death as well as three-day mourning period.

If you want to visit the place you can go through various travel agency or checked online websites and find affordable accommodations and cheap holidays deals 2013 and special online offers. The trip to Marbella can be quite costly but it will surely be worth every penny.
